From the young age of 5 the Walsh Brothers both started to learn to play Irish traditional music on the button accordion. Soon after, they learned how to play classical music on the violin. Fast forward many years later and both play more than 10 musical instruments each!
The Walsh Brothers are passionate about Irish Music – it’s in their blood. Their grandfather Hugh O’Keeffe was a founding member of the Cullen Pipe Band and also played the button accordion. Their uncle Michael O’Keeffe wrote the song, “A Tribute to Luke Kelly”, which was recorded and performed by the world famous, Christy Moore.
Having both trained as primary school teachers, both Hugh and Eugene have spent many years teaching music to young children. In fact, Eugene has recently been asked to teach music to over 700 pupils each week in his school in Cobh, Co. Cork! They have also taught many adults how to learn Irish traditional music over the years and have played in various bands.
It was as a result of talking to many people who felt they had wasted their hard-earned money on bad teachers and poorly designed courses, that Hugh and Eugene decided to help those wishing to succeed at learning how to play Irish music online, from anywhere in the world. And so, Trad Success was born!
We are two brothers from Cork who are both trained in classical and Irish traditional music. We are both primary school teachers and have a very sophisticated knowledge of how to teach and scaffold learning. We are passionate about teaching and learning as well as music.
